Carrigane Early Childhood Centre is a small family owned childcare centre, providing education and care for tamariki aged six months to 5 years.
We are located in Bassett Road, Johnsonville in two adjacent buildings. The Infant Centre/Whare Iti is at 27 Bassett Rd and the Early Childhood Centre/Whare Nui at 29 Bassett Rd.
Carrigane hours of operation are 7.30 am to 5.30 pm Monday to Friday.
Both centres have well established teams led by a Head Teacher/Kaiako who works directly with the centre manager. Kaiako work closely together to provide a continuity of care for all children/tamariki at Carrigane. The process of transition from the Whare Iti to the Whare Nui is extended and gradual and all kaiako work together to support tamariki to make this change as natural as possible for them.
All kaiako are qualified or experienced Early Childhood teachers. All kaiako undertake on-going professional development to keep up-to-date with current philosophies of early childhood care and education.
Each centre has a spacious outdoor play area, with a range of areas for climbing, riding bikes, sand play as well as natural grassed and garden areas. Whenever possible we open our play areas so all tamariki are able to experience the outdoor environments of our centre.
A focus for our centre is shared celebrations throughout the year that recognise the different cultures of whānau and kaiako at the centre.
Music and art are all part of daily life at the centre and tamariki are given many opportunities to participate in song and dance.
We welcome whānau visiting our centre.
